cocktail hour

June 2, 2008

Little Jacket has left leaving behind a trail of sequins from her Balinese sandals, but the lovely weather is still here. This evening I instated a new summer tradition, cocktail hour in the garden for Mr. Snow and me. If you’re in the area, give us a ring and we’ll make you some too!

Cocktail of the day today was caipirinhas, with true blue Pitú cachaça especially imported for us from Brazil by Mr. Snow’s parents. Danger of becoming tipsy (especially for Mr. Snow): quite high. Happy cocktail hour!

Caipirinha

1 lime, cut into little pieces

1-2 tablespoons brown sugar

60 ml cachaça

8 ice cubes

Crush the lime pieces with the sugar using a muddler. Combine this mixture in a cocktail shaker with the cachaça and the ice cubes. Shake vigorously then pour into glass.
