elephant house, copenhagen zoo

Designing buildings for elephants is much more fulfilling than designing them for humans, according to John Jennings, an architect at Foster and Partners. Forget soaring bridges and gherkins, the practice’s newest project to be unveiled is state-of-the-art elephant housing with temperature control, computer generated patterns on their glass roof to simulate leaf-like shadows, not to mention a giant sand pit and a pool! The elephants have apparently given their (huge) stamp of approval by moving, playing, and eating like never before.

Almost as good as being at home then…

Ms. D tipped me off to this one. It took a long time for me to pick my absolute favourite. Do you have one or do you love them all equally?
