the LZR racer

June 25, 2008

OK, enough with the Speedo jokes already. Their new swimsuit, the LZR racer, was released in February. Since then 38 world records have already been broken by swimmers wearing it. Unsurprisingly, all the Olympic teams are scrabbling to get theirs in time.

The technical details of the material and the design went past me but the fact that it is 70 times tighter than other suits grabbed my attention. Yikes! Everyone, breathe in and suit up for the Olympics…

river town

June 25, 2008

The last day Little Jacket was in town we went up to find where the river that runs through Oslo starts, up at Maridalsvannet. The sun was blazing again but the water was still cold when we jumped in for a dip! The river banks were packed with hoardes of picnickers who all rather oddly seemed to go home at 4 pm.

Almost as nice was the walk home again all the way down the river with Special K showing the way. I love the old brick factories that line the river. This was where the industrialization of Norway started in the 19th century, powered by watermills, some of which are still standing.
